Flow Renovations Call 0424 560 582

How a project runs

The same four stages every time, so you always know what’s next and what it costs.

  1. On-site consult

We walk the space with you, talk through what you want and what the budget is, and take measurements. We look at the things that decide what’s possible — where the drainage runs, what the floor is built of, whether the wall you want gone is carrying load. No obligation and no hard sell; if we’re not the right fit we’ll say so.

  2. Detailed design and quote

You get a written scope, a clear quote and a start date before anything begins. The quote accounts for what we expect to find in your particular house, not for a best case. This is where we do the thinking that keeps variations rare.

  3. Build to schedule

One crew and one point of contact. You won’t get rotating subcontractors you’ve never met turning up unannounced. We seal off the work area, protect the access route, and clean up at the end of each day. You get updates as things progress — including when they slip.

  4. Handover and warranty

A final walkthrough together, documentation handed over, and a workmanship warranty in writing. If there’s anything you’re not happy with afterwards, we come back. That’s the whole of our guarantee and we’ve never needed to complicate it.

What we ask of you

Very little, but the little matters. Decisions on tiles, tapware and finishes made early, so ordering doesn’t stall the job — in our experience most renovation delays begin as an unmade decision. A clear route from the door to the work area. And a heads-up about parking restrictions, pets or the fact that you take calls for a living, so we can plan around it.

A short guide to preparing your home

Payment and paperwork

Work is quoted in detail and agreed in writing before it starts. You’ll know the scope, the cost and the schedule up front, and any change to any of the three is discussed with you and agreed before it happens.

We carry $30 million public liability cover and can provide the certificate of currency on request. All trades on our jobs are fully qualified.

Common questions

How much does a kitchen or bathroom renovation cost?

Every house and every project is different, so we don’t work from a price list. After an on-site visit you get a detailed quote covering scope, materials and schedule before any work begins. If you want a realistic sense of the numbers first, our bathroom and kitchen cost guides set out where the money actually goes and what pushes it up or down.

What suburbs do you work in?

Melbourne’s inner west, from our Williamstown North workshop — Altona, Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood, Yarraville and Altona North. And the south-east around Caulfield, where we are also based — Carnegie, Ormond, McKinnon, Bentleigh, Bentleigh East, Murrumbeena, Glen Huntly, Elsternwick and Oakleigh. If you are nearby but not on the list, ask.

How long does a renovation take?

Bathrooms and kitchens are multi-week projects. Bathrooms have a fixed constraint nothing can speed up — waterproofing must cure before tiling can begin. Your quote includes a realistic schedule, and you get updates from one point of contact as work progresses.

Can you move a toilet, or change the layout?

Almost always, yes. What it costs depends on where your drainage runs and whether you are on a timber floor or a concrete slab. We can usually tell you what is realistic within a few minutes of standing in the room, and we have explained the detail in a separate guide.

Will the price change once you start?

Rarely, and that is deliberate. We investigate before quoting rather than after starting, so the number accounts for what we expect to find in your particular house. If something genuinely unexpected does come up, we tell you immediately with the options and costs, and nothing proceeds until you agree.

Do I get a warranty?

Yes. Every job is backed by a workmanship warranty in writing after handover, and if there is anything you are not happy with, we come back.

Are you insured?

Yes — $30 million public liability cover, and we are happy to provide the certificate of currency on request. All trades on our jobs are fully qualified.

Can I stay in the house while you work?

Most of our clients do. For a single-bathroom home we plan the sequence to keep the room out of action for as short a period as we can, and we will tell you honestly at quoting stage what that looks like.
