What we build

Seven things, done fully. We don’t take on partial renovations or repairs — it isn’t the work we’re set up for.

Why our quotes hold

The complaint we hear most about other builders is the price moving after work starts. It happens because renovating means working on something nobody can fully see until it’s opened up — and because it’s tempting to price optimistically, win the job, and recover the difference later.

We do it the other way round. We investigate before quoting: what’s under the floor, what the walls are doing, what your particular house is likely to be hiding. Then we price for what we expect to find.

Our number is sometimes higher than the cheapest quote you get. Our final invoice is usually much closer to it.

How variations work, and how to read a quote

The other thing we do differently is communication. You won’t get a running commentary on everything wrong with your house. We solve problems before bringing them to you, and we only interrupt you for decisions that are genuinely yours to make.

When something does need your call, you get it plainly: what we found, the options, what each costs, what we’d do. Then you decide, and nothing proceeds until you have.

How a project runs, stage by stage

What clients say

We recently had Flow Renovations do a total renovation of our bathroom. Sven’s input during the design of the bathroom was invaluable and resulted in a great looking bathroom. Once the work got started a number of structural problems were found, however Sven was able to fix every problem that was encountered. We now have a lovely new bathroom and I highly recommend Sven and Flow Renovations.

When we finally decided to renovate our old kitchen the hardest decision was to find someone we could trust to take on the job. Luckily we found Sven and his team who went above & beyond to deliver our dream kitchen.

We used Flow Renovations to remodel and update our existing bathroom to make it mobility accessible. From the initial consultation through to the finished bathroom Sven and his team were efficient and reliable. We are very happy with the new bathroom and the process of transforming it.

Common questions

How much does a kitchen or bathroom renovation cost?

Every house and every project is different, so we don’t work from a price list. After an on-site visit you get a detailed quote covering scope, materials and schedule before any work begins. If you want a realistic sense of the numbers first, our bathroom and kitchen cost guides set out where the money actually goes and what pushes it up or down.

What suburbs do you work in?

Melbourne’s inner west, from our Williamstown North workshop — Altona, Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood, Yarraville and Altona North. And the south-east around Caulfield, where we are also based — Carnegie, Ormond, McKinnon, Bentleigh, Bentleigh East, Murrumbeena, Glen Huntly, Elsternwick and Oakleigh. If you are nearby but not on the list, ask.

How long does a renovation take?

Bathrooms and kitchens are multi-week projects. Bathrooms have a fixed constraint nothing can speed up — waterproofing must cure before tiling can begin. Your quote includes a realistic schedule, and you get updates from one point of contact as work progresses.

Can you move a toilet, or change the layout?

Almost always, yes. What it costs depends on where your drainage runs and whether you are on a timber floor or a concrete slab. We can usually tell you what is realistic within a few minutes of standing in the room, and we have explained the detail in a separate guide.

Will the price change once you start?

Rarely, and that is deliberate. We investigate before quoting rather than after starting, so the number accounts for what we expect to find in your particular house. If something genuinely unexpected does come up, we tell you immediately with the options and costs, and nothing proceeds until you agree.

Do I get a warranty?

Yes. Every job is backed by a workmanship warranty in writing after handover, and if there is anything you are not happy with, we come back.
